Wegelius Chamber Strings is a youthful and creative orchestra showcasing the high standard of Finland Swedish, Finnish, and Nordic chamber orchestral musicianship. The orchestra frequently works across genre boundaries and greatly values the pedagogical aspects – young musicians are encouraged to perform as soloist or together with professional musicians within the orchestra. The orchestra was founded in 2003 and works under the auspices of the Martin Wegelius Institute foundation. The artistic director for the orchestra since 2013 is violinist Annemarie Åström.
